Frequently asked questions
Answers before your first step
Starting counseling brings up a lot of questions. That's completely normal. Here are answers to the ones we hear most. Don't see yours? We're always happy to talk.
Getting started
The easiest first step is to reach out: call or text, or send a note through our contact form. We'll set up a free 15-minute phone consultation to talk about what's on your mind and see if we're the right fit. There's no pressure and no commitment.
Yes. Your first consultation is a free 15-minute phone call. It's a relaxed, no-pressure chance to meet, share a little about what you're looking for, and get your questions answered before deciding to move forward.
Betsy sees teens, adults, and individuals. Levi sees teens, adults, individuals, and couples. Between us, we support a wide range of ages and concerns. Reach out and we'll help you find the right fit.
Both. You can meet with us in person in Webb City, Missouri, or connect securely from home through telehealth, whatever helps you show up most comfortably.
Our approach
We work primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, and we draw on additional evidence-based methods, including EMDR, DBT, and Narrative Therapy, depending on what will serve you best. Our approach is always collaborative and tailored to you.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge. It's especially helpful for trauma and post-traumatic stress. Both Betsy and Levi are EMDR-trained, and we always build safety first. You set the pace.
It depends on your goals and what you're working through. Some people come for a specific season or challenge; others stay longer for deeper work. We'll check in regularly about your progress and what feels right for you.
Faith & values
We are both Christians, and our faith shapes the compassion and care we bring to every session. At the same time, our door is open to everyone. You do not need to share our faith to work with us. People of every background and belief are genuinely welcome here.
Only if you want it to. We follow your lead and meet you where you are. Your counseling is about your goals, your story, and what's most helpful for you.
Logistics
Betsy and Levi are both Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselors (PLPCs) in Missouri. Provisional licensure means we have completed our graduate training and are accruing supervised clinical hours toward full licensure. We practice under the supervision of Dr. Karl Wendt (MO LPC #001808), an experienced licensed counselor who oversees our work.
Daybreak Mental Health is our own practice and brand, but we see clients through Mt. Hope Christian Counseling Center. It's the professional home that supports our work and where your care takes place.
Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to good therapy. What you share stays private, within the standard legal and ethical limits we'll explain clearly at the start of our work together.
